Rowan Fae is a Producer, Director and Choreographer working across Dance Theatre and Circus creating large-scale interdisciplinary performance events. Rowan studied a foundation degree in Dance in Bristol (accreditation from Plymouth University) and holds performance and circus diplomas from The Hub Theatre School and Circomedia. Her education, training and practice has spanned across numerous disciplines including dance, circus, physical theatre, lighting design, clown, creative technology, special effects rigging, and magic, As well as working as a physical performer in productions nationally and internationally, She has extensive hands on experience in many aspects of production for the stage.

 

Rowan has a broad understanding of the practicalities of any production from concept to realisation. Tailoring her skills to events with ease and artistic intelligence. She has worked in all kinds of event environments including, theatre’s, festivals, boats, international touring, corporate  and arena/stadium shows. She has worked creatively with arts organisations and companies in a variety of roles. From founding and establishing new arts organisations and cic companies, to creatively directing and choreographing large-scale shows.

 

Rowan has extensive knowledge in special effects flying and performance rigging and has designed flying systems for 'Cirque Du Freq', 'Celluloid Sail', 'Trash City' at the London Roundhouse, Arcadia Spectacular's 'Landing Show', Full Tilt Aerial, the Bristol cult events 'Carnyville', BoomTown Festival and Carnesky Productions. Rowan has worked as a rigger for Compass Presents, Bassline Circus, The Caravan Stage Company, Vertigo Rigging and No Fit State Circus.

 

Rowan has been choreographing and directing large scale aerial performances for more than ten years.

Rowan recently directed a 30 minute circus theatre production aboard Tall Ship Kaskelot for expanded cinema project 'Celluloid Sail' produced by Compass Presents 2017 and funded by the BFI. Rowan currently works as a project manager for Cirque Bijou - a prolific circus producing house based in Bristol who deliver high quality contemporary circus performance to the arts and corporate sectors. She has worked internationally as a choreographer with Canadian company The Caravan Stage for the last ten years choreographing the aerial performance and working alongside artistic director Paul Kirby. Rowan has also been key to the grass-roots development of several established Bristol arts organisations such as Arcadia Spectacular, The Invisible Circus, The Pro Cathedral and The Island, introducing new approaches, techniques and contexts to developing projects.
